Process snmpd not running after receiver upgrade

Hi,

After our receiver firmware upgrade we noticed that our ERC has the following flags:

Process snmpd is not running

Process snmpdtrapd is not running

These flags are present on both our primary/secondary receivers. Are there any commands we can try to kick start the snmp service into gear or is there a different underlying issue?

This can by caused by the configuration being incorrect.  Check the -SNMPConfWriterd process is running on the ESM and if not start it with: service snmpconfwriter start

Then go to the receiver properties and make a dummy change to the snmp configuration.

Hi Iratcliffe,

Tried what you suggested and it seems this process was already running:

"SNMPConfWriterd already started (3393)"

Also performed a dummy change to the snmp config but the issue is still present, just to note this issue was not present prior the firmware upgrade. Thanks

What version did you upgrade from?  What version did you upgrade to? 

Is the snmp configuration on the receiver changing when you apply the changes (/etc/snmp/snmpd.conf)?

What does /var/log/snmpconfwriter.log on the ESM show?
