Low spec "community edition" SIEM

A suggestion.  And yes, I know comparisons are odious...

I'm looking to build a small lab system to test ability to counteract attacks from things like Mimikatz or other attacks using Powershell. The aim is to build it on a good-spec Intel NUC using ESXi and four or five guest VMs.

One of the VMs needs to be a SIEM.

Now IBM have a very low-spec version of their SIEM which they call QRadar CE - maximum 50EPS, but otherwise most core functionality is there. What I'm looking for is an equivalent McAfee SIEM. Something maybe like the VM4 used to be, maybe cut down a little further?

Is there such a thing?

If there is - how would I acquire one?

If not - should there be such a thing?
