I am trying to find information in the documentation and knowledge base about the network configuration of Receiver-HA cluster, but without any result...
My customer asked me about number of the IP addresses, required to configure Reveiver-HA cluster. I know, how the Receivers should be connected with each other and to network (switch), but how many of IP addresses are needed to configure HA cluster?
I found, that cluster uses "shared IP" for Data Source interfaces. But - we need only one address or three addresses?
What about the MGMT interfaces? What about the HB and IPMI interfaces?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Could you even tell me whether, in accordance with the best practices, DS interface address can\could\must be from a different subnet than MGMT? What about default gateway settings for Receivers?
The current best practice is to have the DS address on the same subnet as the MGMT interfaces. If you need to have them on seperate subnets I suggest entering a PER for that at https://mcafee.acceptondemand.com/index.jsp
Also some more information on my earlier post - The shared IP is the first IP the primary is keyed with.
thanks again. I asked about this because documentation, in my opinion, does not describe this subject as clearly, as it should be. Maybe I should to enter a new PER regarding documentation improvements? I think that available manuals are huge, but in the many places are not enough to properly understand, how something work or should be configured.
Totally agree with Artur!!
Split a guide and put more details. If possible, a best practice guide is a good to have one.
Hi Artur and Parinya
I have attached a document to the documents tab of the portal. This gives some more detailed information on setting up HA. Let me know if it helps.
Chris - thank you for that document - it is much better than the standard documentation.
