ELM says low storage space available (but we can't justify an increase due to discrepancies)
Hoping someone from the community can help give some clarity on this issue.
So we currently have 3.31TB provisioned for our ELM logs on a dedicated storage server. I have allocated 3,300GB of this to ELMLOGS and distributed this among 4 storage pools to the maximum allowable, as shown below:
Out of the 3,300GB, only 3,267GB seems to be actually usable. Firstly, why is this the case?
Secondly, why does this value not correspond to what we're seeing in the ELM CLI df -h output:
As seen above, the total "Used" storage for ELMLOGS is just at 2.9TB (vs. 3,300GB in the Admin Console) while "Avail" is still at 472GB (vs. 10GB in the Admin Console).
Now, because ELM is seeing that we only have 10GB of storage left, we are getting Device Health alerts all the time. But we can't justify increasing the disk space allocation with our Storage Team because as far as they can see, the storage is under-utilised:
Is anybody able to explain what's going on here?
I am aware that ELM "reserves" 10% of the total storage for overhead, which maybe explains the used 2.9TB in the CLI df -h output, but doesn't really shed light on why our ELM is saying it's running low on available space (because the math just doesn't check out).
