Were going to configure ELM storage pools for our system but the admin can only provide half of the required storage for the time being. Would it be okay to pre-allocate the whole size on the ELM and only create storage pools for half that size (the real size of the storage).
ex, the required size for the storage device is 10TB however client can only provide 5TB at the moment. Would it be okay to configure a storage device for 10TB however only create 5TB worth of storage pools? or would it be better and safer to wait for the whole 10TB to be provisioned?
You could tell the ELM it is 10TB storage and the system would take it as 10TB even though it is only 5TB. However, you may run into issues down the line especially if it take a while to get the extra 5TB added. You could add a 5TB storage now and then a 5TB storage later. The pools do not have to be from the same storage they can be from different storages that are added. so instead of one 10TB you could have two 5TB storages added with pools on both storages.
