Deleting a large number of events

Hello,

Is there an efficient way to delete a (very) large number of events from the ESM's database?

Deleting 500 million events with the GUI can take hours, and I need to delete maybe 20 times that number of events.

Is there a way to do delete events using a CLI command via a ssh session to the ESM? That would be ideal. Any ideas?

Thanks, Marc.

PS: we're still running v9.6; deleting unnessary events is part of my preperation for our 10.2 migration.

Re: Deleting a large number of events

Have you tried doing it with a purge server-task?

Re: Deleting a large number of events

Hello Dan,

I haven't tried with a "purge server-task" because I don't know what you mean by that...

I searched the knowlwedge base and searched for the term "purge" in the ESM v9.6.0 product guide and didn't find any information regarding that. Can you explain what you mean?

Thanks,

Marc.

Re: Deleting a large number of events

Hi Marc,

I am very sorry but think I got you wrong. Thought we were talking about events in the ePO and then realized that SIEM is a platform of its own.

Sorry for that.

Best regards
Dan
