DSB and ELM

Jump to solution

Do ERCs still push raw logs to ELM via ssh in 11.4.3 the same way it was in version 10.x in case when DSB is used (ELS is not used)?

If yes, why does Upgrade Advisor:

1) list the connectivity from ELM to DSB on port 9092 as required?

2) not list connectivity from ERCs to ELM on port 22 as required?

Hello,

Yes we still use 22 for the transfer between REC and ELM

1) list the connectivity from ELM to DSB on port 9092 as required? This is if the ELM events are routed through the DSB

2) not list connectivity from ERCs to ELM on port 22 as required? I do not know why we do not check the connectivity between receiver and ELM on 22. I would request you open an SR to have this added.

Thank You

Thank You,
Eric

With respect to 1) this is not for the ELM to consume events but for the ELM to publish internal ELM log events onto the bus (for the System Log feature you see in the UI).

ELMs do not run a databus internally, only receivers, ACEs, ELSes and DSBs do.  So when the ELM records internal log events they need to be published to a databus on a different appliance.  The upgrade advisor is relatively new and it is difficult to express nuance through it - the ELM doesn't need access to the databus port on all appliances, just on at least one (e.g. in my environment with a databus, the ELM is recording its logs to one of my receivers instead of the DSB).
