Can McAfee Linux Event Collector be used in a similar manner as Windows Agent

I went through McAfee Linux Event Collector  readme file and in there its mentioned that it acts as a Local Agent. This means that the agent has to be installed on the machine itself rather than installing it on a single machine compared to Windows Agent which can be used to collect file based logs from multiple Windows systems.

Has anyone used the Linux agent ? Can it be used in a same way as Windows for collecting logs from multiple systems.
