Add Windows client by host name

I notice that since 9.4, you are able to add a windows client without supplying the IP address. The ESM attempts to resolve the host name to an IP address. For this to work I need to enter a fully qualified domain name, but it then fails to connect because the NetBIOS name is incorrect. Presumably I need to enter only the host portion of the name, but then the DNS resolution fails.

I tried unsuccessfully to find where I might configure domain suffix searches. I managed to temporarily work around this by editing /etc/init.d/network_script to add a search line to /etc/resolv.conf, but this is obviously unacceptable.

Is there a correct way around this?
