McAfee Client Proxy - Disable release key requirement

Jump to solution

Hi,

Couldn't find any info regarding this, but is it possible to disable this "protection"? Normally it's not an issue, but during POC/Pilot/tunning phase it'd be much better to start with possibility for users to disable this without contacting us so that normal business is not affected.

Hi ,

it deepends on which version you are using. In the latest one there is no other way then to contact the responsible team to disable MCP. But if you are using an older version you can change the policy for MCP. You can disable the check box "Enable Access Protection".

This way the user is able to stop the MCP Service.

Regards,

Thomas

Hi tpllok,

Thanks for your comments. We're using MCP v2.2 that still has option to disable the access protection, so this could be a way how to do it, but if the user disable the service, I think it would still be re-enabled by McAfee Service Controller, wouldn't it...? I still have to test this but first have to deploy some virtual in my test lab.

Hi,

just for info. When using MCP 2.3 no Service is available any more. So the only ways to disable MCP is to use Challenge-Response with EPO.

Cheers

Hi ,

if you disable the checkbox it should be possible to stop the MCP service and it should not be restarted automaticly.
