I have installed the McAfee Agent and the system is showing managed through the EPO. I add a new client task to install the policy auditor agent 5.3 and save and nothing appears to get installed. Is there a command line option for the installation?
The command line option would be 'install.sh -i'. The install files (including the install.sh) are located in ePO's DB\Software directory. Once installed, the agent will be in /opt/McAfee/auditengine.
If my memory serves, the 'install.sh -i' command would install the McAfee Agent, not the Policy Auditor software as the OP was asking about.
I asked McAfee Support a few months ago about a manual install for the PA on Linux and was told that it is not documented, nor supported. You must use a Client Task created within ePO to install the audit engine.
Also, any reason you're using 5.3 and not 6.0?

Try
tar zxvf /path/to/pa53lnx.tar.gz
/opt/McAfee/runtime/2.0/sbin/ldconfig
then
/opt/McAfee/auditengine/bin/enginemain -m oval -s /opt/McAfee/auditengine/schema -i oval.xml
if you need to run it manually.
And I'd hazard that they're using 5.3 because they're a U.S. Federal agency - testing on 6.0 is still ongoing before it's 'allowed' to be used.
