Re: mmsshost.exe is using 77% of RAM

Oh yeah, I saw this video on a day ago.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKgf5PaBzyg

This is the reason why McAfee don't give **bleep** towards us, making sense to ask us to fk off and use other A/V software.

Thanks. But I'm hopeless now.

Re: mmsshost.exe is using 77% of RAM

Just read the messages below (Selvan asking for support from McAfee users). I got a personal request which I answered positively on the sane day 30/01/2018. We are now 2 weeks further and NO reply at all. I made my choice by now, I have payed the s/w for over a year, but when this will end, I will definitively switch over to an other supplier. No matters what happen right now. I have been working for a major US Technical Company for over 30 years, but we/I never treated the customer that way. Let's them collapse.

MMSSHOST.ex high CPU usage regarding

Hi Am Selvan from Tech Support. I'd like to collect logs from your PC so that we can continue our investigation on this issue. The logs are basically McAfee and Windows related events which will be collect using McAfee log collection tool (Mclogcollect). For more details on the process see https://service.mcafee.com/webcenter/portal/cp/home/articleview?articleId=TS101980 Regards Selvan Tier 2.5 Technician

Re: MMSSHOST.ex high CPU usage regarding

Hi Selvan.

Looks quite complex but why not trying it. I will read the document very carefully to see if I need other instructions/help. One thing you need to remember is that as soon as I start the Laptop, after a few sec/min, it will hang-up as per the issue discribed in this forum. It means that applying the steps of the given process will be slow if they run at all. You also must tell me who and how the data will be collected as I am not 100% free here (The Netherlands). Give me please some more notes about the process if you can. That should help.

Re: mmsshost.exe is using 77% of RAM

Hi

The general process is simply enabling the log collection > recreating the issue > Stopping log collection

the next step is to wait for the logs to be created on the Desktop (usually takes less than an hour) and the final step is to transfer these logs to us. The transfer is directly dependent on your Internet Upload speed.

So the entire process might take ~2-3 hours. If you are okay with this I will reach out to you by email and start the process.

Re: mmsshost.exe is using 77% of RAM

Hi Selvan, I am trying already the full day by starting the laptop when mmsshost is using most of the CPU rate and guess what, I just can't run the app you ask me to use to collect logs. Everytime, as soon as I click on the app to start it, I got a white transparent screen and after a few seconds/sometimes minutes, I got a Windows little screen saying that the application does not start and if I want to terminate it! Currently on my screen I see that mmsshost is almost using most of the CPU ewith only a very few other apps.

I am again restarting the laptop and try again till something works..

Re: mmsshost.exe is using 77% of RAM

Hi, using my second PC to write this memo. I was able to start the app and I got immediately a small screen saying McTrace wasn't able to start Xpertlogging, error code returned -2147024713 (cannot create a file when this file already exists!!!! Do you want to continue trace I say YES.

I have replied to your message on how to take this forward. Thanks for your time

Re: mmsshost.exe is using 77% of RAM

Selvan, we still have a comm issue here. Effectively you sent me the private message asking for specific support. The problem is that you did it via a "No Reply" message (which I did not see and therefore sometimes later the mailing replied with "message could not be delivered"!. If we want to communicate privately in order to not bother the rest of the world, I need to have a working mail address in order to communicate with you.

Re: mmsshost.exe is using 77% of RAM

@selvan, the message I posted yestertay evening was: "

Just to confirm, I have now three logs, 2 of them are about 90MB but the last one is >650MB.

The issue is that all of them ran when the laptop was active again. When the laptop is hanging, the logcollect s/w does not start. It will then be difficult to analyze the collected logs.

I would like to start again from a clean status tomorrow morning and see how it goes with the collection of data.

I will post you the collected new logs if any. You will have to tell me how.

Re: mmsshost.exe is using 77% of RAM

@selvan, Ok this morning, at 08:30 local time, I just wanted to restart the laptop and Log Collect process and guess what, I just could not log in. The Laptop was hanging up not allowing me to type in my password, I had to close and restart 3 times (allowing over 20/25mn between the sessions, hoping that it will start) before (and after exactly 65mn) I was able to log in again. I am now collecting the log number 4.
