I have three NSMs with three NSP sensors attached to each manager. Each of the managers are the same version (220.127.116.11) but two of the managers will not load any new snort rules where the third manager does. I did see one error that could be relevant:
Maximum Rule Object limit is not defined for this sensor Model: IPS-NS9200.
I have tried to load the rules one at a time or all at once to no effect. I tried exporting the rule set from the working manager and importing them to the non working managers. this did not seem to change anything.
What I understand is 2 of 3 managers are unable to import SNORT rules. There could be a manager issue that it's database is not allowing to get a new signature. Error 'Maximum Rule Object limit is not defined for this sensor Model' is often seen while deploying the update on Sensor.
In regards to the error, if you have any firewall policy/IPS Policy or any other policy assigned to any unused interface of the Sensor, please remove it and then re-import SNORT rules.
We need to have a look at the ems.log and a few other files from the manager for more clarity on the issue. If the above steps don't help, please raise a ticket with the Support team with Infocollector logs, Configuration backup, and Snort rules for the internal replication.
