Registering network security manager with epo 4.6

Jump to solution

Hi

Currently have epo 4.6 patch 2 installed and network security manager 7, When I try test during the registering of NSM 7 I receive this error:

Database connection could not be established. Message from database: null, message from server. It is not allowed to connect to mysql server.

Do you have any ideas?

Hi Simon,

you need to create a user on the mysql database as per KB66900.

Hi Simon,

What exaclty are you trying to achieve with this integration?

You can either:

1) Integrate NSM with EPO. This will allow you to get host data from the EPO server on the RTTA and also you will get the NSP Dashboards on EPO.

To do this you basically import the NSP extension from the NSM server into ePO. Then create a user on the EPO server with the correct permission set (should include System Tree and the NSP permissions), and then finish the configuration on the NSM using the user you have just created on the EPO server.

2) You can integrate McAfee RIsk Advisor with NSM. This will allow you to pull data from the NSM database into the EPO database that MRA will use to report the risk on your network based on known vulnerabilities. To integrate the products, you need to install MRA on the EPO server. You will then need to follow the instructions on KB66900 in order to create a user for MRA to be able to pull the data from NSM and register the NSM server in EPO (with the MRA user you created on the NSM database).

So unless you are integrating McAfee Risk Advisor and NSM, there is no need to register the NSM server on EPO.

HTH.

Regards,

David
