Re: NSM OS Upgrade

Hi @User27622125

NOTE:
  • The Manager software 10.1 is not supported on Windows-based Appliance. The end-of-life for Windows-based Appliance has been declared and the end-of-life is on 1-Apr, 2023. McAfee recommends you to migrate from Windows-based Appliance to Linux-based Appliance.
  • McAfee doesn't provide Image for 2012 Server OS for upgradation. You may have to purchase own operating system license and upgrade OS.

In your existing setup, steps to upgrade OS and restore backup
- Take all table, config backup, and alert archival separately.

- copy the backup files to remote storage and upgrade the OS.

- install the same version of NSM.

- Restore all table backup.

- post restore if historical alerts are missing, perform solr import.

Regards,
Faizan

Re: NSM OS Upgrade

HI @User27622125

Alert archival and config backup are for precautions. If all table backup restore is successful no other restoration is required.

Information on alert archival:

https://docs.mcafee.com/bundle/network-security-platform-9.1.x-product-guide/page/GUID-CD64DC7E-77A8...

Taking config backup is same as all table backup. Select config backup from drop down instead of All table.

Faizan

Dear Faizan, Will I restore on backup or I will use SOLR database process also after restoration?

Hi @User27622125

Please restore all table backup.

Post backup restoration if you don't find historical alerts perform solr import.
