I often try and access my Mcfaee account http://home.mcafee.com/root/myaccount.aspx from my computer that does not have Mcafee currently installed, as I would like to monitor my other PC's subscriptions. However every time I try and do that I keep getting re-directed to their online store http://www.mcafeestore.com/ . No matter what I try I cannot access the consumer's home screen page. What's going on here ?
I mean this could be a stunt by Mcafee to try and force their products to you (even though I already have it on my other pc's) but surely not ? If that were the case, I would be UTTERLY DISGUSTED with Mcafee, and will switch to another provider immediately, but I couldn't imagine such disgusting behaviour from a leading Security Provider.
Any info on this ? It's really annoying to say the least.
I have no problems accessing my account from anywhere so I would imagine it's probably a bad cookie. In your browser try clearing all cookies, temporary files etc., then try again.
I too could not find an account page for your region and I think I know why. Digital River handles orders in South Africa I assume on contract to McAfee.
If you click that order status link at the top right, there are two options plus if you go back to the main page there is a Contact Us there: https://www.mcafeestore.com/DRHM/store?Action=DisplayContactFormPage&SiteID=mfe&Locale=en_ZA&ThemeID...
There is a McAfee office in the country though, here: http://www.mcafee.com/us/about/contact-us.aspx#cf=south_africa should you wish to contact them directly.
I don't really get it though. What difference does it make if there's no South African Mcafee Website ? As I said, the computers that have it installed are able to access the consumer home page ? And it isn't only related to South Africa, because I know that when I was in a different country I also got the exact same page just with a different currency. So it's true Mcafee are trying to force sell you their products because they're somehow able to tell that you don't have Mcafee installed !?
I don't know the answer to that but can only assume that's the way they operate and there isn't much McAfee can do about that.
I can still get to a download page OK from here. I'm given the option of either entering order number and password or email address and last 5 digits of my credit card.
So the actual download page isn't the usual McAfee one as one would expect and what you gave in your first post.
It would seem that with Digital River that's not possible but you can contact them using the online form...or give McAfee head SA office a call and complain about it.
However this has nothing to do with SA as it happens in every country that is not on the list then. This clearly means it is Mcafee's decision. This feedback really should go to Mcafee because it's an absolute joke I cannot access my account from a computer not running Mcafee.
No it doesn't happen with me in other Country pages, only RSA, so maybe there is a corrupt cookie as I suggested or perhaps some weird malware on your machine which I very much doubt.
Support is your best bet here, linked in Useful Links at the top of the page. Believe me there is no plot. As far as I can tell there is no access to Digital River accounts without calling them or contacting them by email/online.
Digital River is a private company so operates differently from McAfee.
