thanks

came down to the computer this morning to try and tackle your gratefully received advise to find that the computer had died. It now would not either run the start up or repair start up files. I went for the reformat option and the system crashes on running the start up disc with error found on c drive.....Does this suggest that the HD is f*c..../ broken?

RE: thanks

It sounds like the hard drive is at fault (failure/damaged) but without kowing exactly what disc you used, what the exact error message is, or what other methods of repair were attempted, I cannot say for sure if the problem is really the hard drive.
