Please go into Safe mode, then type this. Start > Run > Msconfig > Startup,
Report back if you find anything weird.

I'm not as computer saavy as I used to be so I'm not sure what is to be considered weird. But here are a few of the start up items that I was questioning.
dumprep O -k
The last one listed looks familiar and I think it was a file name of the virus that McAfee had found in one of the scans. Does any of this help you to help me?
That didn't help as much as I like, some of them are things that need to run to help your computer but,
Are any of them running from "C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Temp"
omg. so awesome to not see those freakin' balloon windows. thank you, thank you, thank you.
now, i have the sys conf utility message telling me i should go back to normal startup mode to undo my changes. should i?
also, i still have system restore turned off. can i turn that back on again?
I would download malwarebytes free located here and run.See what it finds.About half the way down on page.download in safe mode with networking.make sure you update and run.Message was edited by: newjack on 2/20/11 2:41:15 PM EST
