In the past week, my computer slowed to a crawl when email was open. I am running McAffee under windows 7. I opened task manager, went to applications and clicked show processes from all users. I discovered that the McAffee email scanner was consuming between 25% and 75% of my CPU cycles. Since McAffee has been running for months w/o trouble, I reasoned that it was malware that infected the McAffee software. At first I tried deleting the application, but I couldn't. I went to my download area and restarted the McAffee installation. Before it runs, it clears out malware & viruses. This worked! Everything is back to normal! This is a big time saver orer uninstalling and reinstalling McAffee software!
