Hello

Your RootRepeal log is clean. How did you uninstall Mcafee?

Download and run the Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe).
http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507

Then try to reinstall.

RE: browser re-direct, can't re-install mcafee

When I click on the link you posted to download the Consumer Product Removal tool, I get the following message in a new browser window:

"The Document ID you entered was not recognized in our system. Please type the Document ID again, and make sure to use the correct prefix."

I'm having to post from another computer, because I can't access the McAfee website or the Windows website from the infected computer. I was able to run Stinger, which detected two trojans in the temp internet files folder, but wasn't able to actually find the files there.

What makes you think that the other machine is infected?
From the machine that is not having any problems you can download the removal tool to that machine and then transfer it to the machine that is unable to locate the website, using a USB stick, flash-drive or any other removable media device.

You can also try secured2k boot cd.
