bad situation

I have mcafee on my computer, and I can do just about everything but see my desktop, which is okay i guess. recently, mcafee did a scan and detected about 2 thousand trojan virusus, deleted two, and "quarantined" the rest. I was safe the day before, (also having not downloaded anything in between them, mostly just youtube), but now my computer has been converted to classic. im afraid to enter passwords on anything becuase they might not be safe.what should i do?

Re: bad situation

Moved this to a more appropriate area.

It's not OK if you don't see your desktop and 2 thousand detections in one sweep is huge...obviously there is a major problem.

What is your operating system and service pack and are you keeping it up to date?  Also what version of Internet Explorer is installed?

Install the free version of this tool and update it then run it.  Let it remove anything it finds and reboot immediately if it asks you to.

I also suggest that you run Hijackthis and post its log on one of the following forums for expert advice:

Do not post the log  here, we can't help!

Re: bad situation

Hello,

If you are able to, please zip your scan log and attach it to this thread so we can look at the detections and advise further.

Thanks,

Sam
