Since two weeks I have problems with the memory of my Windows 7.0 pc filling up to 95% without an obvious cause.
McAfee and Windows defender foudn some viruses but it seems like there is some more.
I had a look at the start-up section in Msconfig end I found three entries the names of which I cannot find at the McAfee site nor anywhere on the internet.
If you have a look at the screenprint it is the fourth entry.
I hope anybody knows what this is.
I've moved this to Malware Discussions just in case.
Look in the last clickable link in my signature below and download Stinger and Malwarebytes Free - their links are there.
Run scans and report back.
Note: If malware prevents installation try saving the installer to your desktop changing its name in the process by using the 'Save as' option.
Also Malwarebytes Free may be downloaded, installed, updated and run all in 'Safe Mode with Networking' if necessary.
If it's malware it's unknown malware.
The manufacturer name, "Onbekend" in Dutch, is "Unknown" in English. The exe name, "irxod.exe", is not found anywhere else - no results from Google.
Perhaps Getsusp should be run to check for the presence of this file? If the exe can be found it should be uploaded to VirusTotal for checking and/or be submitted to McAfee labs for analysis.
