XP Internet Security 2011-are there any specific removal tools?

My laptop is infected with the XP Internet Security 2011 malware. I followed instructions I found online to deactivate the malware. I am now running a McAfee full scan. I was not able to find any XP Internet Security 2011 advice on the McAfee website. I'm assuming McAfee won't get rid of it. Has anyone else successfully removed XP Internet Security 2011 from their computer?

This is rogue anti-malware and as such regular protection software has a hard time dealing with it.   There is an excellent removal guide for it and many others of similar type HERE.

Scroll down that page and read it carefully as the first links you will see are all advertising.

Thanks for responding. I got frustrated and impatient last night and followed the instructions I found at http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-xp-internet-security-2011.html. Then I ran RegCure to get the Registry back to what it needs to be. It worked great.

Re: XP Internet Security 2011-are there any specific removal tools?

I removed the virus. Associated my .exe files but my firewall and automatic updates wont turn on.. Plus one of my pc games "Mount and Blade" dont work.. I guess is a registry error but CCleaner isn't helping neither. I cant restore it to an earlier time because my system restore was off and my saved registry files didn't work

What should I do???

Depends how you removed the virus. If you haven't run Malwarebytes already, run it now.

As for the firewall and updates: first run Security Scan Plus, which will make sure that you don't have any malware actively running; it will also give advice on the current status of McAfee. Small and fast, takes about 20 seconds to run. Then check that none of the McAfee registry settings are corrupted by running Virtual Technician (MVT).

Beware registry errors. CCleaner has a registry cleaner but be careful what you delete using it.

I don't know why the PC game won't work; you may have to get a new copy or reinstall it if you have it on CD.

That is specifically designed for, and I quote ".. helps you reset the Windows Update components...', not too sure what that has to do with XP Internet Security 2011 fake anti-malwate removal, maybe there's something you didn't mention or I overlooked in your earlier post?
