Webget malware got past McAfee

Thanks for the offer and I may well do that. BUT I pay good money to McAfee to protect me from exactly this kind of thing.

I have McAfee Security Center 12.8 with the last update at may 1. Yet the webget malware walked past it like it wasn't even there.

You are quite welcome. I did notice you stated your last update being 5/1/2014? Do you have "Automatic Updates" selected? For my personal current "Engine Version" is as the following;

McAfee Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware

Version : 16.8

Build: 16.8.708

Last update: 5/6/2014

Engine Version: 1881.0

Engine Creation Date: 5/6/2014

As for your decision to utilize the removal guides mentioned, this is entirely your perogative.

It couldn,t hurt....

Interesting. I do have automatic updates turned on, but i made it go look again and it said I was up to date. I wonder if the malware has got at mcafee update.
