Warning about hacker catching data on Wlan

Hello,

today I got a message on my android phone, that some hacker catches the data in our home wlan and I should disconnect.

Now I would like to know, whether that could be a false alarm.

How could I find out, what was actually observed and how could I make sure to resolve the issue?

I have connected to the wlan router from the computer and cannot see anything strange there.

Re: Warning about hacker catching data on Wlan

Is your WLAN secure (WPA-2 encryption) ?

I f it is then it's probably a false alarm possibly triggered by a bad cookie.

You may have accidentally clicked on something.

I would run a scan in case.

It could also be an alert from your router maker and/or your ISP I suppose.

Thanks again for the response!

Meanwhile I performed a scan, which  didn't find any problem.

The message appears, as soon as I connect to the Wlan and it displays a McAfee logo.

Re: Warning about hacker catching data on Wlan

Actually I got this as well. Was told maybe ARP spoofing but I fixed it by

1. Changing router password and to loginto it.

2. Putting a complex wifi password in the router.

3 Renaming router

4 resetting router to get new ip. No warning since.

It could be as Peter says a false warning but scared the begees out of me when it popped up.

There is another post re this somewhere.

Re: Warning about hacker catching data on Wlan

Thank you very much for your helpful response!

Meanwhile I made a quite strange observation: I tried it out with a second mobile phone, which also has McAfee mobile security installed. That second phone does not find any problem on the very same wlan connection. McAfee on my own phone still tells me, that some hacker is catching my traffic.

If the message persists, I will at least change the password for the wlan access (will have to change several devices).

Many thanks again

My own one (with the warning) is a LG Spirit, the other one a fairphone 2. Both are running with Android 6.0.1.

And both have McAfee mobile security installed.
