What does McAfee do when it finds an issue, such as a trojan, that it finds during a scan? Can I find out the name of the trojan that it finds, and how did it get past McAfee on the first place? Thanks for any answers.

If it detects malware it quarantines it, i.e. takes it out of circulation by encrypting it.  You can then delete it within the UI.

Double-click the taskbar icon to open SecurityCenter

Click Navigation (top-right)

Click Quarantined and Trusted Items

There are 3 sections below that will expand when clicked.  It should be in one of those where it can be deleted.

If you want to see the log that's also available in the Navigation section under History and Logs.

If something has been detected that you know is safe then read here:  https://community.mcafee.com/thread/2016
