What is the procedure for removing the "blasterworm virus" from my machine. I am running McAfee Total Protection and scans are not picking up anything. Thanks for your help.
Any up to date system should be immune to Blaster as it has been covered by Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal tool, which installs monthly with updates, since 2003.

I may need to be a little more clear about the problem on my machine. Everything is up to date for XP Home edition.
I have scanned with malware and no bugs found. It does like the old blasterworm did back then. I log onto the internet and I have a pop-up that tells me System Shut Down Initiated and there is a 30 sec. timer. After the time runs out the system shuts down and reboots. You have any suggestions. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Understood. That sounds like you have a major problem with either a bad driver, faulty hardware or similar. I think posting on a Windows help forum would be a better idea.
Unless you want to pay the virus removal people but I have a feeling that would be pointless.
Can you use an alternative browser such as Firefox without forcing a restart? If so I suggest downloading & running Hijackthis and posting its log on one of the following forums with your symptoms for expert help:
