Possible false positive - Artemis!28A8E1A40861

Jump to solution

Hi Community,

It looks like this may be a false positive, please check the attached leko.exe file.

I've attached the alert based on the current McAfee signature too.

Thanks, Martin

P.S. ESET Online Scanner, Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware 1.46 (DB ver. 4096) and AntiVir Removal Tool didn't find any issues with this file.

Hi,

McAfee Labs researchers have examined the file in question and no malware was found.

Solution -

As Artemis is updated in real-time there is no requirement to wait for a full DAT update nor to use an EXTRA.DAT intermediate solution. Simply wait approximately 30 minutes and this false will no longer exist or trigger on your system. Depending on the network settings you have or the caching involved between your system and ours it may take slightly longer for this false alarm to be resolved.

Please let us know further if any issue persists.

...in order to use the software (leko.exe executable) I must turn "Extended Protection" --> "Scan for viruses by identifying threat patterns" off. In order to upload the executable I additionally had to turn the "Active Protection" off.

Frankly speaking it would be much less of a hassle if it were possible to use the "Send to McAfee" function directly without having to turn protection off!
