Just updated my Firefox the other day and now I am getting a pop-up stating that I have a virus, the address is as follows: mainrdrct.global.ssl.fastly.net/in/advu12612612/, the voice tells me to call: 1-866-504-4999, the website link: 22.214.171.124. I did not call, turn off my computer turned back on and clean my temp files with Mcafee. Is there anything else I can do to prevent this type of pop up?
Scan with Mcafee and also run several of the free scanners listed here. Ensure you have installed the free version not a trial that has real protection active as it might clash with McAfee (when you install malwarebytes)
before running Getsusp add your email to its preferences so Mcafee can update you on anything it finds.

Don't download software from 3rd parties if the alternate, the direct link, is available.
Don't click on things you aren't sure of.
Don't open emails from total strangers and be careful clicking links in any email unless you trust the sender.
When downloading and installing software or software updates always read the pop-ups carefully as they may include hidden, unwanted "extras".
Be careful always, the world-wide web can be a dangerous place.
