Plague of the rogue scanners

Hi People,

Found this website to be quite interesting & effective in removing most of the infections, we are currently facing.

Antivirus 2008, Antivirus 2009, AntiVirus Lab 2009, Security toolbar, Antispyware XP 2009, MSAntivirus, Spyware Preventer, Smart Antivirus 2009, VirusResponse Lab 2009, VirusTrigger, XP antivirus and many others ....

Information on how to remove the above infections can be found on the website itself

I found it be quite effective. No traces were found under the Registry, Temp etc...

Download the Tool & Execute it under Safe Mode or Normal Mode. (Works on XP only)

PS: You will still need a specialist software like MalwareBytes' or SUPER Antispyware, to remove some of the other nasties like Trojan Dropper etc..

Hope this helps.

RE: Plague of the rogue scanners

It appears to be only good for XP though.

RE: Plague of the rogue scanners

Cannot find any info on this tool, seems to be similar to MalwareBytes Rogue Remover.

This tool as far as i know has not been tested, i`ll give it test run later.

RE: Plague of the rogue scanners

paullotion: That is correct , this is similar to MalwareBytes' Rogue Remover.

However, for browser or DNS Hijack, no matter what, none of the Security Software links work. We are unable to download MalwareBytes', SUPER Antispyware etc...

RogueFix can be used to clean the infections, that will enable us in downloading the Spyware or Malware cleaners.

Peter: 'XP only': Yes 😮

I was browsing through some of these tools to test run on my computer, before testing it on users machine & found it partially supports Vista. Though I am running 64-bit Vista, the scan completed successfully, however it skipped or gave an error on two locations.

I did not have much time to check what these locations were.

Thanks for the update.

Better ask them if they are using the default password/username on their router, see this post from a colleague of mine.

When you're finished testing RogueFix, would you mind posting your results and thoughts, I would be very interested.
