First time user of McAfee, and don't know what to do with the following "Potentially Unwanted Program Blocked" Artemis!F652EA124A75. Thank you.
Just to clarify my thinking...Are you saying that each instance you attempt to access this particular File/Program, is it displaying ( Pop-up ) such as Web Advisor, or is it Blocking/placing it in Quarantine?
In addition..(Never) allow a program unless you are certain it is safe to do so.
Could you provide a 'Screenshot' please?
Thank you, however I meant a screenshot of the actual (Pop-up). When your McAfee software detects a 'Suspicious/Unknown' program, it detects it as a Artemis!. Until the Labs analyze/suppress the detection, it will continue to be blocked.
Having said this, it may be that you have inadvertently downloaded/Installed a (PUP) program. It happens as they can be bundled with seemingly safe Downloads. Try running these 2 Programs to check for anything untoward lurking on your system. (Malwarebytes (Free) and Malwarebytes AdwCleaner) Both of these second opinion On Demand scanners can be obtained here; Kindly post back and provide us if anything has been detected.
CD - Here's what the results reported. I'm a total novice, so what do you think, e.g., should I get rid of is, and how would/can I do that? And, could this be the cause of the unwanted program? Thanks!!!
We were just discussing (PUPS) in another thread. A (PUP) is basically considered a (Potentially Unwanted Program) Meaning it can cause undesirable behaviour, such as Pop-ups and so on. And in your case is causing 'Performance issues'
It is your decision to remove or not. Personally I elect to remove them...Malwarebytes has become more aggressive in their detections of these programs Malwarebytes Acquires AdwCleaner - Malwarebytes News - Malwarebytes Forums
All the Best,
To remove simply select the detected item and remove/delete and reboot your machine.Allow your system to fully load all of your programs. It also would not hurt to run Malwarebytes AdwCleaner as well.
In addition the Detection is mentioned in this removal guide How to remove PUP.Optional.Updater (Removal Guide)
Keeping it simple, running Malwarebytes (Free) and Malwarebytes AdwCleaner should suffice.
