This window keeps popping up. http://i55.tinypic.com/18m3yc.png The only mcafee products I have installed are mcafee security scan plus and mcafee site advisor, both free downloads (kosher though I think!). Someone told me it looked dodgy and I shouldn't allow it. Is it dodgy and if so how do I remove it? I've done AVG virus scan as well and super anti spyware malware bytes and ccleaner, nothing shows up. I thought I'd try here before trying something more drastic. What do I do now? Try hijack this? I'm stuck! Thanks!
It's genuine, Winpatrol is simply warning about something it doesn't have listed.
Security Scan Plus is no protection by the way, merely tells you the state of your security.
It's OK to install then? Phew! thanks both. I always thought if there was no identifying company name that was a sign of dubiousness, but evidently not.
It's new, that I know. There was a major McAfee update a couple of days ago, and after it finished Windows Defender kicked in and asked me to Permit/Deny a service that wanted to run. And I've just re-installed SiteAdvisor, and Windows Defender did the same thing again afterwards. It's genuine, and I believe it does what it says on the box - cleans up temp files and so on.
Windows Defender, btw, gets my approval for warning about changes/additions/deletions that could affect the stability or security of Windows. I regard it as an extra level of security, at least on XP (where it co-exists with McAfee quite happily).
