Could someone please tell me these three things?
1) What is it?
2) What could have it been casued by
3) How do I get rid of it?
Please help. I'd greatly appreciate it. I'd rather not have to buy a brand new laptop or have it fixed for a high price if this is a serious virus
Don't know if you're allowed to bump your threads or not..
please tell me if you are allowed. This only happened since yesterday but I want to make sure its nothing serious before something bad happens.
Yes you can bump your own thread but it normally happens after several days without seeing a response. You gave it less than twenty minutes.
In answer to your questions :
1. I don't know.
2. I don't know.
3. It's detected, so is it quarantined? If so you can find the Quarantine list and delete it from there, or send it to McAfee for analysis.
Artemis detections are detections of potentially harmful software. An Artemis means it's new, unknown, but looks suspicious. Frequently an Artemis detection turns out to be a false alarm. No-one else has reported this detection yet so I don't know what it is. If you know what's being flagged it would help if you could tell us.
Well, when I searched "Artemis" while searching through all my computer files, a texture pack that I dont even use came up for MineCraft. I deleted that, so ill see if it does anything when the message pops up again.
1. Artemis means an unknown object has been found and is being investigated.
2. No idea.
3. Run some extra tools. See the last link in my signature below for suggestiions.
Sorry. I didn't understand what you were talking about when you said "Quarenated". But now, as I started my laptop up again today. I found out what you meant. It said this is where it is quarenated from:
C:\users\appdata\local\filesfrog update checker\update_checker.exe
Should I just delete the Exe file? or will doing so cause trouble?
He said "quarantined" not "quarenated" and that is a section in your McAfee SecurityCenter which you should open and then look in > Navigation > scroll down to Quarantined and Trusted Items and expand those 3 areas to see if it's there.
