How to remove Microsoft Security Essential Alert (which is Fake)?

I have McAfee bundled with my ATT U-Verse Internet - Subscription is Active

Got this FAKE alert while checking a SAT Prep web site

- CANNOT RUN MALWARE BYTES (Shuts Down)

- Cannot Run McAfee Scan (Shuts Down)

Any suggestions?   I am not  a computer expert .... but can follow simple instructions.

Thank You

/ Raja

1 removal path http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-fake-microsoft-security-essentials-alert

No need to download top software that is shown in add. Just follow the steps.

Here is what I did to get rid of the Fake Malaware notice

1.0  Removed the HD  and used another PC to Scan this HD using Malaware bytes;  it detected 1 error (red colored)

but apparently could not remove it

2.0  I put the HD back in the original Laptop & after re-boot - the FAKE notice was still present!!

3.0 I used SYSTEM RESTORE to a date before the virus infection and it got fixed

The suggested way should have worked though maybe the version is a new 1 so MWB did not pick it up.

I would suggest disabling restore now to remove any restore points that have the beastie in them. After reboot reenable restore and make a new point,
