How can I remove corrupt-ep - McAfee cannot delete it

I ran McAfee on XP and it found corrupt-ep but could not delete it.  How do I go about doing this.

Re: How can I remove corrupt-ep - McAfee cannot delete it

The easiset thing is to uninstall according to the steps in this document: "How to uninstall or reinstall supported McAfee consumer products using the McAfee Consumer Products ... "

But I think that's not the solution. What causes this? What version of Windows do you have installed? Have you checked whether it's up-to-date? Did you check the Microsoft Update website? Do you have any other security software installed? Have you run an online scan, like the one here? Any malware/viruses on the computer that disabled McAfee's software?

Hi...McAfee says to just restart the computer and rerun the scan process. I did this twice with no results.. It is still there, and my laptop seems to be running

extremely slow. Has anyone had this issue and found a solution. Thanks all....DD

Hniezgocki,

I am having the same issue. ( Corrupt-EP) McAfee cannot delete or quarantine.

Did you get it fixed? What worked for you?

Thanks in advance for your answer and time

No, I did not get it resolved and no one has really given me something to try except to purchase a different program (SpyHunter).  I am really surprised that there is not any good info on how to remove it - it has been around for about 9 months...

Please let me know if you find anything that works...

1: Download FileAssassin

2: Scan with McAfee

3: Delete detected files using FileAssassin

Not sure what it is, but have you done a search for this on the 'Net? One result is this page: http://www.enigmasoftware.com/corruptep-removal/ which has a removal tool, But use it on your own risk. If successful I suggest to uninstall it again. Then check if your McAfee software is up-to-date and also your version of Windows. You can check it at the Microsoft Update website.

I didn't find any solid information about that detection on any website.

Tried any of the above? Here's also something: http://www.spywareremove.com/removeCorruptEP.html

Tried to run a scan in safe mode?
