Has anyone seen spyware/malware that disables mcafee and plants their own "security" software to fix the problem? The logo looks like a McAfee logo, but is NOT Mcafee software.

This software happens at startup automatically.

Can you get me the name of the application or a screenshot ?

Yes, I have the same problem. My McAfee wasn't working and I was told to uninstall and reinstall it. I followed the instructions and am now unable to download McAfee because apparently this malware blocks it.  Malwarebytes recognizes it as trojan and claims to successfully remove it saying "restart to complete removal".  However, when you restart it's back every time. There must be a way to remove permanently without paying McAfee $90.00.  I've already paid for a 3 year subscription that apparently does no good. Any help would be appreciated.

If you could give us a name for the infection it might help us locate a cure.  Download Hijackthis and post its log on Malwarebytes forum.  If the infection prevents you installing it use 'Save as' to save the program to your desktop and rename it to something fictitious such as 12345.exe or similar.

DOWNLOAD HIJACKTHIS

Do not post Hijackthis logs here, we can't help with  those!

Post the logs at a specialist Forum:

MALWAREBYTES

When you post tell them what you've done so far.
