I have always being satisfied with McAfee products and its working..
However suddenly I am facing this issue of installing updates...I also tried all suggested steps in this community but failed to update the same.
This is what happens
I open the window...click on scan..it gets scanned and shows 2 threats found...I click on fix it but
it displays the message.."It cannot update your software. Please check your internet connection. If the problem continues, Please contact technical support"
I have also tried the MVT...Please if you can help me with this....I am really annoyed working like this...
Please indicate what the name is of your McAfee software and version found by opening the software and clicking About, also indicate if you could successfully run the Virtual Technician found here: http://mvt.mcafee.com/
If not please endeavour to run Malwarebytes Free linked in the last link below. Please read the warning there on how to keep it free of charge, also how to download in Safe Mode with Networking if all else fails.

That's good. Did MVT fix anything? Updates sometimes produce errors if the servers are temporarily unavailable it should have made sure that was OK.
It might not harm to run the other software I mentioned, just in case.
It's always a useful tool to have around as long as you remember to update it prior to each use.
Thanks for adding that info on Malwarebytes(Free). It certainly should reduce our time having to personally type.
Before steering you to support I need to be sure that there is no malware on your machine so please run what I suggested, Malwarebytes Free.
Post the results.
And one more thing...if I go with the gotoassist page...n chat with someone who asks me share the screen..is it reliable???
