HELP PLEASE!

I keep getting a pop-up about a potentially unwanted program ( PUP) being blocked under the file name Adware-Bprotect. I clicked remove and another box popped up as a confirmation that I wanted McAfee to remove the file and I clicked 'Ok'. This has been popping up on my computer for the last month or so and I just ignored it because I thought it would just eventually go away. Can someone please help me by informing me on how to remove the file myself. It's quarantined  from C:\ProgramData\Sidekick Manager\2.6.1339.144\{6f06cdeb-5de2-4520-aef2-1aa556ca7a6b}\sskmngr.dll

Re: HELP PLEASE!

Open SecurityCenter and then click Navigation.  Scroll down to Quarantined and Trusted Items and expand those sections.

A PUP can be trusted if you wish, as it appears to be part of a legitimate piece of software.

If it keeps popping up I can only assume that the application is generating random new objects which trigger the popup each time they occur.

You could try submitting the application to the Labs for approval.

I outlined a procedure here:   https://community.mcafee.com/thread/2016

.

Re: HELP PLEASE!

This is in forums all over the place, started about June 26th. This and something else (a toolbar, I think) got bundled with one of the software downloads as an "optional extra". You have to un-check the box during the download process or you wind up with all sorts of crud.

It's not as serious (potentially) as BrowserProtect or Babylon toolbar so all you probably need to do is run Malwarebytes Free Version and CCleaner. That ought to do it.

Re: HELP PLEASE!

Analyses for this are now available. See my post in the other Adware-BProtect thread.

Re: HELP PLEASE!

From what I have read it might install another program as well you need to remove it in the control panel.
