Generic Pup in System Restore

For the last couple of weeks several computers in my house get the message that generic pup.x is found in system restore. We click on fix problem & it says it can't completely remove it. I am wondering if it is a false message from McAfee or if I need to find another way to fix it. Any thoughts?

RE: Generic Pup in System Restore

System Restore folders are protected by Windows, therefore anything bad in there isn't cleanable by normal means.

To be safe I would advise to Disable System Restore. That will get rid of those folders. You can re-enable it once the warnings cease.

Thank you! I'm trying that now on the 2 having that issue. Hopefully it will work.

Good luck.
