Free antivirus as "BehavesLike.Win32.Suspicious.dc"... strange.

Jump to solution

Hello,

I am the owner of free antivirus WinDetect. My site is http://www.free-anti-spy.com.

According to VirusTotal https://www.virustotal.com/en/file/7c6a4ea41f8f15be78274f2dbac36d0280171c52e85dbeff81d69938d8ced8bd/... your AV detects it as "BehavesLike.Win32.Suspicious.dc"

The file has digital signature.

Please remove this detection or clarify how free antivirus become "Suspecious".

File can be downloaded from http://www.free-anti-spy.com/static/download/windetectsetup.exe

Regards,

Valery.

I've just heard that this file is now whitelisted so the next update should take care of it.  Sorry it took so long.

If there is an Artemis detection number please post it.  Also you should go through the regular channels to clear your software:  Detection Dispute Submission | McAfee Labs

I am not sure it is Artemis detection.

You're right, it isn't, reading from that VirusTotal result.

Moved this to Corporate User Assistance.

You can also dispute the finding (the same was as if it was an Artemis detection):

Ex_Brit,

I do  not know what to enter to "McAfee Product Information:" fields. I am not aware of what VirusTotal use.

What to type?

Valery.

That list needs updating badly.

I suggest the following (click to enlarge):

Ex_Brit,

I sent my question to virus_research@mcafee.com 5 days ago. No reply.

So I decided to write here.

I have filled and sent the request via Detection Dispute Submission | McAfee Labs.

Regards,

Valery.

It's a frustrating process I realise, my apologies, but I am merely a volunteer here.

Hopefully that submission will help soon.
