False Artemis!491145D5A963

Please see http://www.virustotal.com/file-scan/report.html?id=d6413ff278c31b0394ef215f573d9f34c74ef29ef204c0f9c....

I am the developer of this software (ISXEQ2.dll).   I have been producing this DLL since 2005; however, it has only recently been flagged as a virus.  Please fix this ASAP as it is causing major problems for my customers.

For more information about the software and/or to confirm that it is legit and has hundreds of present and past users (with no reports of foul play), see my forums at http://www.isxgames.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=1

[NOTE:  The DLL in question can be downloaded directly from http://www.isxgames.com/isxeq2/Extensions/ISXEQ2.dll]

You'll need to submit this for investigation if you haven't done so already.

See "Information needed for possible Artemis false positive investigations"

Re: False Artemis!491145D5A963

Yea, the instructions I found online said to do both (the form and then post here as well.)

By the way, the McAfee submission form for false positives is definately the most obnoxious of all the forms out there.   They're already making my life difficult with this false positive, there should be a very simple form to fill out when you're the developer and need to report a false positive.   (I complained to my friend at Symantec about this as well.)

Re: False Artemis!491145D5A963

Really just submit it (zipped and password protected as in the FAQ) to mcafee with subject possible false Artemis detection and name of detection and when it is replied to say you want the detection reviewed and why.

If no reply is a day or so post back and 1 of us will ping a lab guy re this

Not a big deal as far as I see.

Re: False Artemis!491145D5A963

Ah, yes, I confused myself reporting to so many companies this morning.   I did send the email to the address at McAfee first.   It was just when I was viewing another FAQ that it mentioned the form at https://secure.mcafee.com/apps/mcafee-labs/dispute-form.aspx?region=us    (By the way, that form has a bug in it that doesn't let you select "no" for 'Does your software affect any other computer settings?)

Anyway, everything is cool.   They should have a copy of the software via that email address.

Hello amadeus,

The file in question has been reviewed and the detection has been suppressed. The sample should no longer be detected.

Best Regards,

Patty
