Not so much information about it at the moment. Must be a new one.
my computer has this too- it seems like its erased my mcafee and will not let me redownload it. An hour on the phone with a mcafee tech from india was very, very unhelpful. I can not seem to get rid of this with anything! spyware doctor was no help either. Mcafee stinger does not find it at all.
The Dr. Guard virus got into my computer in a video that was attached to to a "job interview" e-mail for a company called Mandura. My e-mail appeared to have been taken off one of the internet employment websites. I ran the msconfig to keep the asr64_ldm file from running the virus at start up. I then was able to use regedit to remove the disable for the Task Bar and remove most of the Dr. Guard files in the registry. At least I am able to use my computer and hope McAfee Virus Scan will able to remove whatever is left of the virus soon.
Thank you, MikeH. I got attacked on Monday, March 8 after visiting the website of a potential vendor. A video launched immediately and took down my McAfee. I could neither relaunch McAfee nor remove the Dr. Guard program. It totally corrupted my register... not even the Microsoft scanner would work. Last night I downloaded the tools from McAfee to uninstall my software, and then reinstall. I'll know soon when I get to work if that was successful. But, I will plan on trying the prodedure you outlined. Can you, or anyone else, be more specific about how exactly this should be done?
I have the same problem on march 8th. This virus attack my computer and mcafee can not detect it. I thick that I got the virus when I access a link for friend request in facebook. I used the TDSSKiller http://support.kaspersky.com/viruses/solutions?qid=208280684 to eliminate the virus
