This is a virus that comes up frequently. It blocks an entire page of whatever you're looking at while on Firefox. WHY IS McAFEE NOT CATCHING THIS AND DISABLING IT???!!! I get a full page of a perfect Firefox logo, with the urgent message to update immediately. Then I get an update popup, which I cancel out, but it ALL looks perfectly authentic. Again, why is McAFEE not stopping this and disabling it??? That's what I'm paying for.
This has been happening for a long time. When I ran a search, I found this:
About Firefox Need to Update Immediately Virus
Although the message looks very reliable, it is actually nothing related to your browser’s security. It is just one more badware created by cyber criminals in order to get money from less experienced computer users. Have a closer look at “Firefox need to update immediately” message:
Firefox need to updated immediately!
Your version of Firefox (18.0) is vulnerable and needs to be updated.
Attack pages try to install programs that steal private information, user your computer to attack others, or damage your system.
Some attack pages intentionally distribute harmful software, but many are compromised without the knowledge or permission of their owners.
Start update process
At the moment this message is spreading quite widely and you can be one of its victims. So many computers are getting infected also because Mozilla Firefox is one of the most popular browsers at the moment. You should never trust this message as you will only clear the way for the cyber criminals to gain some money from you. It has nothing to do with the version of your browser and you should not pay attention to what it says.
