Downloader Trojan and VirusScan 2009 unable to help

Twice got infected wuth "Trojan" "Downloader". VirusSCan 2009 continuously gives messages a file name so is infected and is being cleaned or deleted and then another and another for hours...no end and could not access the other hard ddrives in computer as the trojan infected them. I even donloaded the McAfee independent file "Stinger" and it got infected and could not work. I had finally to format the hard drive and get it back from the Acronis backup which was few days old and so missed some files in between.

How would McAfee VirusScan help clean the computer when this Trojan infects again?
Any help? In the past McAfee was giving free chat service to solve such problems and they stopped that and charge a lot for it despite having bought their newst program and getting all updates!! So, the program plus updates alone do not help.

Hi,

Please try the below steps:

Open Internet Explorer > Click on Tools> Click on Internet options > Delete the temporary Internet files.

Click on the below link and follow the steps to perform the scan in DOS mode.

No protection software can stop everything that is out there. It's prudent to be careful where one is surfing, what one is downloading etc.

It's also prudent to keep some extra anti-spyware tools onboard and updated, just in case.

Lastly it's vital that you keep your operating system totally up to date with both critical and non-critical updates, likewise any installed software.
