Does any one know of the ARTEMIS!1B584C668B85 TROJAN

McAffe Total Protection has detected and quarantined the above trojan from my system. I now get error messages on boot up, that the NETSH.exe could not be found in MSWSOCK.dll . Browsing is now much slower, updating of McAfees is not possible.

The error message comes up 4 or 5 times, and McAfee continues to alert me to the detection of the virus every 10 minutes or so.....

The versions numbers of my McAfee products are attached.....

Assuming the Artemis detection of the Trojan is not your major worry right now .....

There was a post from someone with an (almost) identical problem a while back, and he found a solution which worked. Try it and see if it works for you. It's at https://community.mcafee.com/thread/36486

Moved to Artemis discussions so that department can make changes if needed.

Hi,

This is related to ZeroAccess and we have coverage for this as ZeroAccess.ep with current DATs.

Hi,

We detect this as ZeroAccess.ep with current DATs. Update the product and run a full On Demand Scan to clean the infection. A restart may be necessary to complete the cleaning procedure for the detections occurred during the On Demand Scan.  If the issue still persists, try these McAfee tools in the following order:

Rootkit Remover:

http://www.mcafee.com/apps/free-tools/termsofuse.aspx?url=/us/downloads/free-too ls/rootkitremover.aspx

Stinger:

http://www.mcafee.com/apps/free-tools/termsofuse.aspx?url=/us/downloads/free-too ls/stinger.aspx

Please ensure that Rootkit scanning is enabled under the Preferences tab for Stinger. You may set the sensitivity level to Very High if you would like it to detect more malware heuristically.

Restart the machine.

Update the product to latest DATs(check if the update completes successfully) and perform a full scan to ensure there are no more infections.

Showvik
