Disable Firewall w/o Administrator privilege

Hi,

We have one PC in a remote area where the Administrator password has been conveniently "forgotten" by the owner and we cannot have a remote session unless the firewall is disabled. He is not an IT literate so sending him a bootable CD (BartPE, etc) will be useless. Is there anyway we can disable the firewall w/o using an administrator account?? Or is there anyway we could reset the password for the Administrator remotely??

Please help!!!

Re: Disable Firewall w/o Administrator privilege

The unit that we need to fix has windows Vista business.

Although, i would also like to know if there is also way of doing this in Win 7 and Win XP...for future troubleshooting

Re: Disable Firewall w/o Administrator privilege

You must have Administrator Privileges to make changes so your options are...

Safe Mode - If there is a default "Administrator" account that can be accessed, the firewall can be disabled/configured there.

Reset the Password - Use a specialized tool from Microsoft's ERD (BootCD).

If it's on a domain, create a new admin level account on the Active Directory for temporary use on that machine or apply a policy to configure the Firewall.

If you just need remote support, have the user download a program that establishes an outgoing connection (Reverse connection or Proxy/3-way connection). GoToAssist/GoToMyPC, TeamViewer, ect.
