Artemis trojan detected and quarantined

Last night, my computer was infected with an Artemis trojan. I immediately ended tasks and ran a full scan. It detected 2 file and quarantined them. This morning, upon reboot. I was getting a message that I need to get spyware software. I have a message at the bottom of my screen, with a red x, at tells me to click here to get lastest spyware software through windows. McAfee keep detecting and blocking found issues. I am running another full scan at the moment. It takes a long time. I am going to need help to get rid of this problem. I hope you can give me some steps I can take to get rid of this virus. Thanks in Advance.

Re: Artemis trojan detected and quarantined

I have completed th 2nd full scan and no problems were detected. I still have the message coming up that I need updated spyware coming from a red x icon at the bottom of my windows screen.

Now it says that I have a kind of spyware that can't be detected or disabled, can remember which word. It recommended restarting and scanning again. So I am. Please help.

Re: Artemis trojan detected and quarantined

Spyware Alert sky detected on your machine.

Also JS/FakealertKrptik (Trogan)

Task manager has now been disable per Administrator. I think it is safe to say. I have a big problem.

I'll be waiting for your advice. I'm working on a laptop that is not affected.

Re: Artemis trojan detected and quarantined

Hello Lauri,

This looks to be a type of Fake AV software, possibly associated to the FakeAlert trojan family. If this is the case, please see details at:

It may also be useful to submit samples to us for further analysis, as Neha stated in her previous message.
