Artemis!F2A0C085F4A2

McAfee keeps detecting artemis trojan, informs me that I need to perform a full scan and then full scan fails.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Re: Artemis!F2A0C085F4A2

Does the failing scan say why?

What folder is the file in?  Do you feel it is a correct detection or false If false send it to Mcafee via

http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?lc=1033&id=TS101331

When they reply add wording false +ve and name of detection and say why you think it is.

Re: Artemis!F2A0C085F4A2

Not sure how to tell if it's false or or not.

It is quarantined from C:\Windows\Installer\{c791174a-e567-f19e-9677-adf66795fa27}\U\80000032.@

The scan fails for an unknown reason and the same trojan has been removed multiple times.

Only other problem with the computer is that I have been unable to access the internet through any of my browsers, i.e. and chrome. (Other programs using the internet are working fine e.g. skype)

The net issue could be the issue otehrs are seeing if this happened only in past 6 weeks maybe that though seems net partially working and that is a worry..

Try submitting it to www.virustotal.com and see what the detection rate is.

I would submit it to Mcafee as I mentioned above and ask for a recheck manually

Hello cfenton,

The file is a rootkit and is detected as ZeroAccess.en by McAfee.

Re: Artemis!F2A0C085F4A2

Ive tried those steps and the problem is persisting.
I now appear to have a virus that opens other webpages whenever I try to go onto the internet.

Any other ideas?

Re: Artemis!F2A0C085F4A2

Hi,

Please try these McAfee tools in the following order:

Rootkit Remover:

http://www.mcafee.com/apps/free-tools/termsofuse.aspx?url=/us/downloads/free-tools/rootkitremover.as...

Stinger:

http://www.mcafee.com/apps/free-tools/termsofuse.aspx?url=/us/downloads/free-tools/stinger.aspx

Please ensure that Rootkit scanning is enabled under the Preferences tab for Stinger. You may set the sensitivity level to Very High if you would like it to detect more malware heuristically.

Restart the system.

Update the product to latest DATs(check if the update completes successfully) and perform a full scan to ensure there are no more infections.

Regards,

Showvik
