There is one .exe file I am trying to install, it installs fine and then gets quarantined by McAfee, so I tried restoring it, adding it to safe lists and trusted lists, removed it from being scanned in a custom scan. Yet when I install it again, it keeps quarantining it. I've tried all I can think of

So far hasn't quarantined at all. I just reinstalled to see if it would quarantine and it hasn't. So I believe it's fixed.
It comes up as GenericR-GNU!4F87E7A2EB24
I know that sounds bad but I've been using the program I'm trying to install forever and this has never happened, I'm 100% certain I can trust what I'm installing.
Moved to Malware Discussion > Home User Assistance. You never know, someone from the labs may spot this.
Sometimes the software will detect something that it never did before due to updates etc. or maybe the software installer has changed somehow.
Either way that link should help you.
