McAfee Endpoint Security for Linux 10.6.x - Installation Guide (Unmanaged)

Jump to solution

Hello,

i would like to install ENSL 10.6.1 to a system in unmanaged mode, so that the system is not communicate with any ePO Server.

In the installation guide (https://docs.mcafee.com/bundle/endpoint-security-10.6.0-installation-guide-linux/page/GUID-8C47110C-...) there is a point:

<quote>

Before you begin

You must have installed the McAfee Agent software on the system you intend to install the software. For information about installing the software, see the product guide of your version of McAfee Agent.

</quote>

Is there no other way to install it without an agent?

Workaround if there is realy no other way could only be https://docs.mcafee.com/bundle/agent-5.5.0-product-guide-epolicy-orchestrator/page/GUID-EB09F0F0-19B...

Thank you

BR

Robert

I'm afraid that question is slightly to McAfee Agent related for me 🙂

But - if you just take the agent package from the website (product downloads site), then it has no configuration and therefore no knowledge of your ePO server.

I'm afraid not. Even an unmanaged installation requires an agent.

Hello Chealy,

thank you for your answer.

Another question:

After the installation of the agend, when i enter "

/opt/McAfee/agent/maconfig -provision -unmanaged -nostart

", did the agent communicate with any ePO Server?

Thanks

Robert
